Batman: Arkham Asylum

If you’re looking for an exciting game to play, you just found one. Many of the critics are rating this version of Batman as the best game of 2009 thus far and it no doubt has made the list of the top 10 PC games in my book. There’s quite a bit to talk about in how this game is played, so I’ll just hit on the top points and you can make up your mind about the game for yourself. That said, I’m pretty sure you’ll like it.

The atmosphere in the game is rather unsettling. Arkham has obviously been through, to say it nicely, a lot. Everything about it has been ravaged and is in complete shambles. At the beginning of the game the Joker is brought in as a captive but he soon changes role from captive to captor. You can hear his voice taunting you over the loud speaker the entire game, which gives him a feeling of omnipresence. It is very eery.

As Batman you have several attack methods. The combinations are easy to learn but hard to master. One thing about this batman is that he isn’t allowed to kill anyone. You’d think that with the place filled to the brim with the scum of the earth he’d be allowed a higher level of lethality. However that is not the case, and actually lends itself well the game. You are allowed to beat the crap out of the thugs, which isn’t too difficult when it’s just thugs you’re fighting. When they come and turn on the heat however it makes it more difficult and you have to be very strategic with how you play.

Besides beating the crap out of people you can also be a little more stealthy about it. You can string them up by their feet from the gargoyles overhead, swoop down on them and knock them out, or pull them off of ledges and have them crash to the floor. It’s all quite fun!

There are over 240 gems hidden around the game map for you to find. There are riddles, interview tapes trophies and more. You’ll spend a lot of time exploring the map looking for these, but they are all well worth the hunt. It’s great just to walk around and explore anyways, there’s a lot to see.

The only bad thing I can see about the game are the boss fights. They just aren’t very impressive and don’t fit seamlessly into the game. For a game as giant as this however, that one point is just a passing thought and I suggest checking out Batman: Arkham Asylum, one of the top 10 PC games of 2009.

Top 10 PC Games in 2009

Here at The Top 10 PC Games we strive to provide you with plenty of information about all the Top 10 PC Games. We have a pretty healthy appetite for PC games and our goal here is to keep you up to date as much as possible. Want to know what people are thinking about the top 10 pc games? Then come here in the future and you’re sure to find some valuable information!

I’m a pretty avid gamer and so I definitely like to know what’s the best game out there in different categories, and that’s what this blog is all about. I tend to prefer strategy games, both turn based such as Civilization and real time such as Age of Empires. Those two classics and all their later versions definitely rank high on my list. I remember going into internet cafes with friends and spending several hours staring at the computer screen as we demolish each other’s cities over and over with hordes of soldiers in Age of Empires 2. There’s just something about seeing an army of 100+ Elite War Elephants coming out of the forest upon your nicely built city. Well you know that is all about to change!

Well that’s enough about that. On to today and what’s currently popping! According to gamespot.com, the Top 10 PC Games of the last 6 months are:

1) Batman: Arkham Asylum
2) Street Fighter IV
3) The Sims 3
4) Red Faction: Guerrilla
5) Resident Evil 5
6) Hearts of Iron III
7) Dawn of Discovery
8) Prototype
9) Plants vs. Zombies
10) ARMA II

I’d like to go into a review of each of these games, but will leave that for later posts. There are some real gems in this list. Prototype for example is a pretty excellent game. I don’t want to spoil it all right now, but can you imagine a dude who knows no bounds and likes to fly around Manhattan eating zombies and blowing up helicopters and tanks? He feels no pain and can take on the powers and abilities of everyone he comes into contact with! Well, like I said, don’t wanna spoil it for you! For now just have some fun gaming!

Just real quick though, check out this link. This blog is primarily about the current top 10 PC games, but I thought this was a great nostalgic post about games of the past.
